Climate Change

At INEOS Hygienics we have an ambition to be carbon neutral by 2025

The way we run our business has an impact on our footprint, that’s why we’re making changes here too. We’re all about renewable. We’ve reduced the amount of electricity consumed on-site by 13% in the last three years, through projects like energy-efficient lighting, heat source pumps and efficient use of our most energy-intensive manufacturing equipment.

And in 2023, we’re opening a new factory in County Durham where one of the key requirements of the build was to ensure it was designed to optimise energy usage, considering the environmental impact at every stage.

We are working toward becoming carbon neutral by 2025. What does it mean to be carbon neutral?

We are at the start of our journey and right now we are calculating the amount of greenhouse gases our business creates. Some things are easy to measure, and some are more difficult to calculate. For those parts, we use either reputable sources of data or estimate using other pieces of data we have. We always add a buffer.

We have projects in place to significantly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, including energy usage at our factories, and waste management programmes. We will update here every time we launch a significant venture.
