Hi Everyone,

I’m Kimberley Wilson - Psychologist and Brain Health Expert.

I want to talk to you about emotions and the physical impact they have on our body.

People tend to think that their emotions are all in the mind, but actually, your emotions start in the body.

For example, we often say we have a ‘gut feeling’ when something is wrong, or when we’re feeling nervous our brain is actually interpreting the butterflies in our stomach.

In another context, the butterflies - that are actually due to a release of adrenaline - might be interpreted as excitement.

Can you list some familiar emotions, and then discuss the physical sensations that we experience with them?

By listening to our bodies, we can actually get a better understanding of our underlying emotions.
